Litter
A litter warden for the area was appointed by Limerick City and County Council August 2024.
Regarding litter issues even with/without a litter warden appointed the initial action of a resident should be to log a call to report an issue.
According to the Limerick City and County Council Website page on Litter and Waste it is advised to phone 1800 201151 to report a litter/waste incident.
Please have the exact location of the litter/waste and Car Registration (if relevant to incident) to hand prior to making the call.
Another convenient method to report a litter/waste incident is by using the (free) “See it? Say it!” phone app which is a platform of the Environmental Protection Agency of Ireland.

If you spot environmental pollution or dumping, open the App, take a photograph, add a few simple details including your contact details, and submit the complaint. The app will send the GPS coordinates and will make it easy for those investigating to locate the problem. If phone coverage or GPS is an issue you can take photos when you see the issue, and submit it later with the App. This will allow your local County or City Council to follow up on the complaint. The report will be submitted to the relevant Local Authority.
You can also use the App to make a phone call to the National Environmental Complaints Line 1800 365123. The phone line is open 24hrs a day, 7 days a week and all calls will be answered by dedicated staff. The details of the complaint, such as location, nature of the complaint, will be recorded and passed to the relevant local authority, and followed up by them, the Gardaí or the EPA as appropriate.
Noise
Members of the public wishing to report perceived noise nuisance from neighbours, are in the first instance, advised to make every effort to resolve the issue bilaterally with those concerned.
The Free Legal Advice Centres (FLAC) has produced an information pamphlet: Neighbour Disputes which should also be consulted in this context.
Where the property is rented, the landlord should also be contacted and advised of the perceived nuisance. If the property is owned by Limerick City and County Council, the Council’s Housing Department may be able to assist in the context of the conditions of the tenancy agreement with the occupants.
The Template Letter at this link has proved effective in the past regarding eliminating noise issues.
NOTE: Copies of the letter should be sent to Limerick City and County Council, An Garda Siochana and UL. For landlord you can send as a pdf via what’s app if you only have a phone number as contact.
