UL CLC
Plassey Residents Association contribute to the UL Community Liaison Committee (UL CLC) meetings which take place every two months, normally on the last Thursday of each month. The Committee is supported and resourced by the Office of the Vice President Global and Community Engagement. It includes other local residents associations, individual residents, landlord groups, Gardai, UL Student Life, UL Postgraduate Student Union and relevant UL staff members and local politicians. For those who wish to take part in this committee it is important to note that the guiding principles for the committee include.
- The Committee will be guided by a spirit of objective listening, challenging respectfully and interrogating ideas not people.
- Meetings are confidential to create a safe space for constructive dialogue.
- The Committee wants to influence change in the culture of off campus student behaviour in collaboration with stakeholders, not in opposition.
UL SCELO
The role of the Student Community Engagement Liaison Officer (SCELO) is to provide an informal disputes mechanism, by receiving complaints about alleged off-campus breaches of the Code of Conduct by members of the local community, including statutory organisations, residents and students living in off-campus accommodation. Specifically, in terms of conduct off-campus it is an offence to:
- Engage in conduct likely to bring the University into disrepute.
- Engage in disorderly conduct on or off campus.
Depending on the nature of the complaint the SCELO will assess if the complaint requires a referral route to UL Discipline. In such instances there are range of sanctions available to the UL.
