An Garda Síochána have been present and provided valuable the Plassey Residents Association meetings. Currently Ambrose Talty and Richard Collins are operating as community Gardai for our area. Advice given at meetings has included the following.
In an emergency always dial 999/112
You should use this service if a crime or incident is happening now or if anyone is in immediate danger. 999/112 calls have the highest priority and your call will be handled by trained call-takers. An Garda Síochána aim to answer 80% of 999 calls within 7 seconds and deploy resources immediately giving an estimated time of arrival.
For Less Urgent Matters
For example to report antisocial behaviour, noise complaint or parking issue that obstructs you going about your daily business (E.g. Blocking footpath access for pram, blocking access routes for service/emergency vehicles) the best course of action to is to call Henry Street Garda Station at 061-212400 to seek support.
For best possible outcomes it is recommended to provide as much detail on the call as possible such as Car Registration, House Address and also to explain the effect to the residents caused to help with prioritisation of the assignment of a car to call and investigate further.
A caller should expect to get in contact with the control room in Henry street and to be forwarded to Cork for the issue to be logged on the system. Once a call is logged cars will be assigned according to priority.
For less urgent items the email address limerick_community_policing@garda.ie can be used. This email address is checked periodically and not fully attended like the phone system.
If a call is put it may be useful that the Whatsapp group can be alerted that the issue has been logged on the system to avoid duplication of efforts.
